Who are the EBA?

The Emsworth Business Association was established in 1999 and currently has around 100 members.  It plays a pivotal role in the local community, organising and supporting a variety of events throughout the year, running a shoppers’ loyalty card scheme, hosting free Wi-Fi in the town centre, and raising money for local charities.  We also promote Emsworth as a destination for visitors.

Our members benefit from monthly networking events, member-to-member discounts, and from the EBA’s enthusiasm for social media and determination to promote Emsworth and its business community.  And of course they have access to this website, designed for us by Oyster Marketing & Design (an EBA member).  Each member has their own profile, which they can revise/update at any time.  This directory is a valuable resource for the general public and a fantastic portal for our many smaller business owners who may not have their own websites.

How do we make a difference?

Emsworth is thriving and we believe that our hard work makes a very real difference.  Emsworth is a beautiful market town with history and charm and it continues to thrive because our members understand that Emsworth has to move with the times:

  • The EBA has installed free Wi-Fi in the town centre
  • Emsworth has won a national award for the EBA’s work during British Food Fortnight to promote local food & drinks businesses.
  • Emsworth hosts Hampshire Farmers’ Market each month, thanks to the EBA’s determination to have an outdoor food market in the town.
  • Local tourism centres and hotels regularly receive leaflets designed & printed by the EBA to promote Emsworth.
  • The EBA actively encourages its members to be Dementia friendly and in 2017 ran a series of free training workshops for its members.
  • During 2018 it has been working closely with Final Straw Solent to raise awareness in the wider community of the need to reduce the use of single-use plastic and to encourage participation in local beach cleans.
  • The EBA’s Emsworth Extra Loyalty Card Scheme rewards those who shop in Emsworth, encouraging everyone to shop local.
  • The EBA has organised the production & distribution of reusable shopping bags, and made them available to the public free of charge annually since 2014.
  • The EBA actively uses social media to promote Emsworth and its member businesses, raising Emsworth’s profile nationally.
